Course Description and Rationale This course is a 12-week (3-credit) ONLINE course designed for students who have already taken an introductory writing course, such as EWP 190 (Environmental Writing Program) and Advanced English. It aims at helping students develop and sharpen college-level literacy skills of analysis, argumentation, and critical thinking as well as other rhetorical knowledge and multimodal competence that are required for success in communicating interdisciplinary knowledge and concepts in BS Bioprocess/BS Paper Engineering in the 21st century. Students will critically analyze scholarly works on nature and the environment as expressed by selected writers and undertake a research project with a focus on ONE issue related to bioprocessing and the environment. Frequent informal and formal writing assignments, research and documentation, and oral presentations are required. We will meet via Wecom. You are required to log into the class at least 10 minutes before class starts to ensure that you have enough time to resolve any log-in issues that you might have. Also, you are required to keep your video on ALL THE TIME during class with your mic muted. You will unmute your mic to ask questions or make contributions.
